Loving Others

So you went to school today and the same person that always annoys you bothered you again. Or, you walked into class and the same teacher that likes to pick on you started yet again, bright and early. Does this describe your day? Do you have multiple situations happen throughout the day at home or at school that make it hard for you to “love others” as we talked about at the retreat? You are not alone. In fact, in John 16:31-33 Jesus even warned us that we would have unfavorable situations in our lives.

It says,

Jesus answered them, “Do you finally believe? In fact, you’re about to make a run for it—saving your own skins and abandoning me. But I’m not abandoned. The Father is with me. I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”

See, its not a bad thing to notice the annoying, frustrating, and even irritating situations and people in our lives. Notice them. But when you notice them remember to take them to God first! In the scripture above He warns us of the bad circumstances but then told us that He has given us peace. So, as you take these situations/people to God ask Him for the peace He promised to give you and wisdom on how to handle the situation in love.

Remember, “God gives you the desire and power to do what pleases Him” (Phil 2:13 paraphrase). Let Him teach you how to love. All He needs is your willingness.
